Dishonest claim rejection report
On the 22nd of July 2024, around midnight, I was woken up by a bad and dangerous gas smell in the house. Upon inspection, I noticed that the gas smell was coming from the fridge. I promptly logged a claim to have my fridge repaired, and an assessor was dispatched to check it. My fridge is fully functional; it is just emitting a dangerous smell.
The assessor furnished me with a copy of the report of work done. In the report, the assessor confirmed that the fridge is emitting a gas smell and nothing else.
Unfortunately, on the 26th of July 2024, my claim was rejected, and to my shock and surprise, the reasons were different from what the assessor initially shared. One of the reasons given was that "the freezer and fridge compartments are not cooling because of an internal leak." This is false. My fridge is fully functional—where is this lie coming from?
Additionally, the rejection cited wear and tear. I purchased the fridge in February 2019 (I have the invoice to prove it), and it is not that old.
I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the report issued by your company regarding my recent claim for refrigerator repair. The report falsely states that "the freezer and fridge compartments are not cooling," which is a blatant misrepresentation of the actual issue.
The refrigerator in question is functioning properly in terms of cooling; the problem is the emission of a gas smell, which is both unpleasant and potentially hazardous. This dishonest report not only undermines the credibility of your service but also disregards the real issue that needs attention.
My advice to anyone considering insuring their home contents with your company: be aware that at Miway's convenience, they fabricate and make up reasons to reject claims and not assist customers when help is needed.
This process has left me high and dry because I insured my home contents for unforeseen circumstances such as this one, and the insurance is not able to assist. It feels like the house always wins, and in this case, the house is Miway Insurance.
