Disgusting treatment when it comes to claims stage
My vehicle was insured with miway and was involved in an accident on the 19th May 2019, my brother in law was driving my vehicle as I was highly pregnant.
On the morning of the 20th May 2019 a day after the accident, I visited my gynecologist for a routine check up. My doctor then diagnosed me with preeclampsia.
I was immediately admitted to st annes hospital, where a whirlwind of doctors and nurses ran tests in the delivery room. My doctor said my baby had undeveloped lungs, I was given steroids to make him grow faster inorder to perform an emergency ceaser. On the 21st of May it came the time for my ceaserian. Afterwards my son was whisked away to the Neonatal intensive-care unit, before I could hold him. All I wanted was to see my son and my husband's face. And I didn't get either. The nurses cleaned me up, brought me back to my room and left me alone for housrs. It was grief and fear when it should have been joy and excitement. And it was emptiness. A day later the nurses allowed me to walk to the NICU to see my son.
At the sight of my baby, wires everywhere, a tube in his mouth. I felt a wave of intense melancholy.
A few days later I had been discharged from the hospital, my son couldn't leave just yet. From that day on I went in everyday to hold my son for hours. Nurses and family eventually told me to go home and take care of myself, a task that would turn out to be more difficult than I realized.
This entire experience took a psychological toll on me. I was emotional, I would lie in awake at night, suffering through flashbacks of the experience.
MiWay claims accessor contacted me the day after I gave birth while I was still admitted in hospital. The claims asscessor showed absolutely no empathy and compassion towards myself, my baby and my situation. He did not give me time to heal emotionally.
The investigor knew what I was going though as I told him many times.m, however he still pushed forward and continued to. I did not anticipate having a problematic birth and MiWay interrogated and cross questioned me like I am a ********, he questioned all of my neighbors, adding to my stress.
This event and stress from MiWay has left me with even more psychological scars. I was taken by surprise on how an insurer can turn around so fast from treating me as a good loyal client to them treating me as a ********, Infact ********* are treated better. The investigor was more concerned on how to get my claim repudiated so that he could earn a bonus from miway and couldn't care less about my life and my baby's.
During the investigation of my claim MiWay questioned my previous neighbors, current neighbors, and my brother-in-laws work colleagues. They were asked who the regular driver was and how was the vehicle driven.
I am really taken aback by the fact that MiWay has made a decision on denying my claim based solely on hearsay information.
is a cause if concern that miway has made an arbitrary decision, which benefits miway and the investigator.
It is especially unfortunate that miway would treat their clients in this way. Some insurance companies find reasons to pay out claims, but surprisingly miway seems to look for reasons to decline claims.
For the record and hyperthecially speaking, if Mr krishendren pillay, my brother in law, was the regular driver of the vehicle. By taking into consideration Tcf with reference to the Didcott principle law it clearly states that if the insurer would still have issued the policy, albeit at a higher premium, even if the information withheld materially affects the risk to the insurer, then it would not be FAIR for the insurer to repudiate the claim. Thus insurer would need to reconstruct the policy.
