Disappointing move so far...

I happily moved to MiWay knowing that I was going to be saving quite a penny on insurance... I bought a new car in December (Fishing around for quotes from my own insurance and then others) and finally insured the vehicle with MiWay. They mentioned some usual conditions that MiWay has, sometimes installing a tracking unit (Applicable to me) or even an inspection of the vehicle (Not applicable as I am buying a new vehicle and not preowned).

I took delivery once insurance confirmation was received by MiWay, this was done in also knowing that I was to have within 48 hours my tracking unit installed of which I had installed the following day after delivery. Once the installation was complete I went ahead and ensured that the tracking device would be loaded onto the MiWay system so my cover would be completed, the Car Track installer gave me an inspection sheet to sign to confirm there was no damage to the new vehicle.

I was VERY shook when, in early January I had received the first communication from MiWay via SMS and WhatsApp requesting me to do my self inspection which was at this point overdue (Previously I was told I didn't need one as the vehicle was new). I had then made immediate contact with MiWay Claims department (Incorrect department) to ask about the correct steps, to which the lady had informed me that my vehicle wasn't at this point insured due to the outstanding inspection, I was VERY frustrated and ended up getting transferred to a customer service representative who then told me that it isn't in my policy and that an inspection isn't in fact required, only the tracking device (Condition already met) and confirmed I am covered, however did kindly suggest that I get my inspection done anyway to be SUPER sure of everything, to which I agreed.

I went home after work and did my mini photoshoot of the vehicle and sent the mail, I got a response asking for more images of the license disk and number plate (Not yet received as the car isn't registered yet), I then informed them that I would share those images once the plates/disk is received.

After believing that this was concluded, I missed a call from MiWay at 7am this morning, to which I called them back after 8am to find out what was the issue, I had then mentioned to the lady that the only reason that MiWay would be calling me was relating to this inspection issue, she opened my profile, and then confirmed that ONCE AGAIN I am NOT covered due to the outstanding inspection, and that she didn't see anything received by me or loaded onto my profile... TO WHICH I WAS FURIOUS to think that I went another 2 days without cover AGAIN!

I had then asked her to give me a solution, she said that a prompt for my inspection would come up on the MiWay app for me to submit the images again... once again I am super stressed as at this point it is again confirmed that I am not insured right now and haven't actually been since delivery was taken and the tracker was installed (As the condition apparently reads, once a tracker is installed after leaving the dealership the insurance company needs an inspection to be done). The lady said I should wait 5-10 minutes for the prompt for inspection to come up.

I then was very concerned when 3 hours had passed and after 5 checks on the app this prompt was not there yet, I then had a WhatsApp conversation with MiWay team who then told me I was not covered and in the same conversation, after asking them to confirm that I haven't been covered for 1 whole month, she wrote, "Ignore the above message" and said I am covered provided I do no miss an installment... I was furious and immediately called the call center and demanded to speak to a senior, I was first integrated and gave very little information while waiting to be transferred to a senior who I then gave background to, he confirmed that I AM INDEED COVERED but also do need to resubmit my images of the inspection...

What a terrible exercise, it makes me wonder if saving R700 on insurance is worth terrible customer service?

FYI - I never heard anything from anyone, and ended up moving insurers.
