Disappointing Client Service from MiWay

We all know vehicle insurance cover is highly competative. So when I received a quote from a different insurance company, where the monthly premium is more than half less that what I was paying at that point in time for my MiWay vehicle insurance for the same type of cover (same access amount, same cover etc.) - I was not impressed.

I contacted MiWay on 28 June 2017 and spoke to a consultant regarding this matter and that I am considering moving my profile to the other insurance company. Why should I pay more than double for the same type of cover, I have had no incidents or claims in the last 3 years that I have been a client. The consultant managed to bring my monthly premium down, however it was still R150 more per month compared to the alternate quote I received. I thanked the consultant for her assistance, however told her that I will need to go think about whether I want to stay on with MiWay or not becauuse I don't feel like I am getting the best deal.

Later that day, I decided to go ahead with the cancellation of my MiWay policy and move over to the other insurance company. I sent an email to MiWay at 11:05am on 28 June 2017 confirming that I want to cancel my policy effective 01 August 2017 (more than one month notice period) and that MiWay should please send me confirmation of my cancellation. Needless to say, nothing came from this.

26 July 2017 I sent another follow up email to MiWay requesting confirmation that all is in order with my policy cancellation as I have not heard back from anyone since my previous email. No one phoned me back (strange how when you request a qoute to join, a consultant will phone you back within the hour..). Definately not client service right to the end.

27 July 2017 I contacted MiWay again - I was put through to a senior consultant named David who assisted me with this matter. I emailed him my proof of cancellation request sent through in June 2017 and asked that he please attend to this. During our telephonic conversation, David indicated that the consultant whom I spoke to in June 2017 captured on the system that 'I am happy with my renewed insurance cover premium and will stay on' - which is not the case, please go listen to the voice recording. I indicated that this matter isn't personal, however I need to do what I feel is best for myself - inevitably it is my decision as to how I wish to spend my money. In my follow up email to David dated 27 and 28 July 2017, I specifically indicated that the cancellation must be effective 01 August 2017 as per my instruction of 28 June 2017. He never responded to me and I had to assume all was in order as I was unable to get hold of him telephonically afterwards.

What an UNEXPECTED surprise when I was debited (twice) on 02 August 2017 by MiWay. I immediately contacted MiWay once again to find out what on earth is going on, why am I being debited if my policy has been cancelled??? I was put through to Rhulani, who indicated that as per the system my policy will only be cancelled effective 01 September 2017 as my 30 days notice was only captured from 31 July 2017. David never thought the need to inform me of this, most probably why he never responded to my emails even though he gave me his personal details in order to contact him.

I sent all my email proof of correspondence that I had on my side through to Rhulani following our telephonic conversation and she indicated that the matter will be addressed. To date (08 August 2017, a week later) I have not been contacted by anyone from MiWay regarding this matter - irrelevant of whether it has been resolved or not. How is this client service?

In light of this, I will not recommend Miway to anyone as the information captured on their system is skewed to make their consultants look good, and they ***** your money. Needless to say, my husband who is also a MiWay client is in the process of moving his profile (vehicle, house and household content) over to another insurance company.
