Disappointed

Unfortunately this reflects badly on Miway however it is aimed at the smart repairs or scratch and dent policy. Miway consultants in the process were great. I am however livid. I scratched the car on lower left rear fender and onto bumper left rear. There was a small dent. After speaking to Miway/smart I had a dent specialist pull the dent.... cost R650. Today I am told that the claim is rejected as the quote from Automagic is R8500 which exceeds the repair value as per contract. R8500???? I just got a quote for the paint repair from another mobile paint division....R2000. Plus the dent which was 650 so total of R2650. So Automagic has heavily inflated prices? This is not ethical. I understand that the scratch goes over 2 panels. However there was not even an offer to paint one panel ( 5cm silver and 15cm clear coat). On a quote of R8500 it implies that the estimator/painter does not know how to blend or touch up. Miway, you need to check into the smart repairs and what you are being billed....simply because if you overpay, our premiums go up. So after 5 phone calls and my venting here, I have cancelled the smart repair policy. Why? Simple, it's not worth the phone calls, pictures, excuses, justifications and explanations for people who don't understand 2k paint and water-based paint and blending. Just so we clear, the damage was a dent, minor scratches and one bad scratch less than 10cm, and three places where the paint "chipped ". To fix this requires sanding of 5cm, feathering the sanded edge 1.5cm, spray, 15cm colour, then clearcoat to the line about 20cm and polish. Bumper requires sanding of 2cm by 7cm. Feather edge of 1.5cm and then paint, clear, blending thinners, polish. If you don't believe the above, check it out with any qualified spray painter. I am so disappointed. Please don't draw my attention to terms and conditions, rather go ask a repair technician about area he needs to work on to repair a scratch.
