Companies buying consumer data from irreputable companies

Received a cold call from MiWay and upon requesting where they got my contact details. it is from Directline Marketing holdings. There are numerous complaints on various platforms regarding Directline marketing and it is scary that a company like MiWay supports them by buying data from them. ******* data, as the lady could not supply me with the platform where I gave permission for MiWay specfically to contact me.
