Car theft not paid out
II had an issue with the way I was addressed. The tone, body language, and manner of speaking were somewhat condescending and arrogant. I was not given an opportunity to express my thoughts, and I was often interrupted when I tried to clarify points. Ten minutes into the meeting, it was clear where this was heading. I had to confront both assessors about their tone, for which Mr. Maritz apologized, as I was still a client with MiWay insurance. Twenty-five minutes into the meeting, the condescending body language and tone reappeared. I chose not to address it again. I question whether this is how MiWay trains its assessors to interact with clients.
As the conversation progressed, I was told I could withdraw the claim to avoid being flagged by other insurance companies should the claim not be approved. I felt as if I were being accused of *****. I've explained why I didn't have insurance for a long period of time. They told me their recommendation would be “not to pay the claim”. So, they're implying that I'm committing *****. If ***** is suspected, then I should be arrested and let the court decide.
I got car insurance to ensure that should I get into any unplanned trouble with my vehicles that I don’t feel the financial burden as much. The theft of my vehicle occurred and in a nutshell, they made me feel as if I had orchestrated the theft. With that said, I still maintain that I should be arrested, then we sort it out with lawyers and court. I felt very much mistreated. It’s unfortunate that my skin colour being a black person is somewhat racial. I’ve read complaints that a lot of black people are on the losing end with insurance, especially MiWay insurance. Racial profiling is a thing with MiWay insurance. At some point, I felt they would ask me what my blood type was just to make an excuse not to pay me out.
In another case with MiWay, one of my buses was towed at one point and the service provider allocated to me lost my side mirror. It took a month just to replace a side mirror. This should have been a red flag regarding their willingness to pay. I had to call the towing company myself to get my side mirror cover. This experience made me feel that insurance companies will look for any reason not to pay, while happily taking my premiums every month.
My accountant advised me not to buy another bus a week later, and to wait for the insurance money since I used a loan from my company that I would then have to repay.
Financially, I am not struggling. My company's bankroll can attest to that. Why would I take pleasure in losing a car and having people claim my story could be “*****”, nicely decorated with fancy office language?
If the office lingo used insinuates that this could be a “*****” case, I would suggest that I be picked up by a police van, spend the weekend in jail, and then let the case proceed. I believe I am financially fit to see this case through for the next two years. At this point, it's not about the money; the insurance payout wouldn't even cover the cost of a new bus. Rather, I want to challenge the perception I have of insurance companies, like MiWay. If they have used their resources to “prove” their point, I would also like the opportunity to prove mine. I might be dyslexic, but I am certainly not stupid.
I’ve been asking for all my interactions from day one, nothing has come to me two weeks in after they cancelled both cars I have with them. I am waiting for the report, especially the company that they are in cahoots with, Waidler, for the key report saying it’s not registered to my car, which is impossible. I’ve used that key for a year. They claim they contacted the previous owner, clearly lying when I asked the name, they wouldn't disclose the name. Unfortunately, this Wailder company is dishonest, claiming they could read car keys. I’ve made earth-shaking investigations about how my 2013 normal key works. Which will all be revealed with my case in court which I’ll be heading with MiWay insurance and their service provider Waidler. I would advise everyone that had their keys tested to do investigations with the manufacturer of the car.
It’s not about the money at this point. I want to expose MiWay insurance for allegedly ****ming people.
I am a different kind of black, and I want to show them the individual they thought they were dealing with. With all my businesses running on their own. Time is what I have, and money for this process I want to undertake is there.
Their ombudsman is very useless, and why would they fight for you? The in-house ombudsman is funded by them.
I asked for all interaction for weeks now because I need to prepare my case.
Thank you.
