12 Jul 2021, 09:57Hi
I have to say I am abit disappointed. I have requested for a car hire on the 28 June 2021 which is 2 weeks ago, and I only got a response or reply when I wrote a review on this platform that I eventually get a response this weekend.
Then when an agent to contact me, she tells me that the 3rd party car hire company will phone me to arrange the car hire and I would require a security deposit of R1500 (on Credit Card) and R2000 if in Cash and I would only receive my security deposit if I return the car with a FULL tank and with damages (this I understand).
I have no problem paying security deposit but if its in my policy to have car hire while my car is in repairs, why should I pay 3rd party security deposit if car hire is in my policy and not car hire on my own expense. The way I would get the car hire from my insurance does not make sense, if I need a security deposit and why do I have this in my policy, what is my insurance doing for me in terms of the car hire with same arrangements with the 3rd party company I could have hire the car in my own personal capacity.
If I had to be told this on the 28th June or perhaps within a timely manner I could have budget for it but I got informed about this 2 weeks later, In my current situation, 1).I do not have an extra R1500/R2000 at hand to use for security deposit, 2) Now I must run around to get a R1500/2000 from which I do not know where to start, 3). I am still in the same position I was 2 weeks ago, stranded without a car while my car is in repairs, 4). And if I take from my planned household budget I would take R2000 from the mouth of my Kids, the cost of living is higher than it was ever before, bread, milk and potatoes cost about R50, Petrol has gone up so I literally use R100 a day for petrol ( as I use my car for work and drop my kids of at creche), then I use R50 on hand for either lunch or daily usage, this is an average R200 my family needs to survive, that means I would have taken 10days of the remainder of the months budget for a security deposit which by the way I dont know if the panel beaters will require a additional week to repair the car but the completion ETA will be given today but this is still unpredictable.
hat can I do? I am stuck in rock and hard place, either take the security deposit for the car hire from my family's budget or have no car at all
This could have been avoided if I was told in a timely manner.
Please advise
