Bad experience
Yesterday in johannesburg my window got smashed by someone trying to smash and grab. I called MiWay when I was in a safe place. I did not claim for the broken window as I am arranging smash and grab windows to be installed at pg glass. The claims person on the phone could likely hear that I did not know what to do as I asked questions. He did not tell me that I actually need a window to replace the broken window in order to get smash and grab windows. I received a call from pg glass today that I need a replacement window and it costs R1000. Claiming for the broken window would be R500 according to MiWay so it is more cost effective to claim. They could have told me that I would still need to replace the window and I am disappointed that this information was never provided to me. I called MiWay today to claim after the call from pg glass and the claims person Prudence asked me for my car registration number. I don't know it off by heart but recall some numbers. I looked on my policy document and MiWay has the wrong registration number which is frustrating as it is my understanding that an inspection is done from the start of the insurance in order for them to have the details of the vehicle when it is insured. As I need my car back urgently today I decided to rather pay the R1000 instead of claiming. Not a good experience.
