Atrocious Service from Miway Claims

My vehicle caught fire on the 23rd of May 2018. I was towed by a Miway and the vehicle was sent to Renew IT Sandton. For two whole weeks the vehicle just sat there with nothing happening. Eventually it was towed to Denver Autobody where it was to spend another 4 weeks. In the meantime I was given an authorisation by Tsholofelo Ramoraswi, the claim consultant responsible for my case. It has details regarding all the repairs that needed to be performed on the car. I went to fetch the car on Monday and realised that the repairs on the invoice were not as per the agreed authorisation. I paid the R4250 excess and decided to enquire with Miway why this is the case. I e-mailed the consultant yesterday (03/07/2018) and never got a response. I called this morning and the less said about the conversation, the better. For the 8years that I had vehicle insurance, this is the first claim I have ever submitted. The treatment I have received from Miway is contemptuous of my rights as client. For 6 weeks I have been deprived the use of the car yet we pay insurance premiums to get assistance in our time of need. When the vehicle was eventually “repaired” then you realise that it’s not what was agreed on. What kind of service is this? Imagine if I had one car, I would have spent almost two months using taxis while Miway plays God with my car.

You advertise for new clients everyday, yet those who have trusted you are treated like ****. You shout that as a client we will “experience a hassle-free and efficient claims process”. Is this the hassle free and efficient process? Is this the insurance that sets us free by keeping a car for 6 weeks and not repairing it as promised? Come on! May someone who has the right authority at Miway look into this matter.

I am not going to let this matter slide. I have the authorization as well as the invoice and I am very much prepared to take the matter to the Insurance Ombudsman and to court if the need arises.
