******, ************** and bad service

****** and ************** If I had an option to rate this zero I would.... and that is the truth. I have had a comprehensive insurance for cars and houses with MiWay for years now and I have never claimed, not even once. I have never missed a premium and I have been an ideal customer for MiWay, that is for sure.

Recently, my car got involved in an accident, and the nightmare started when I submitted a claim for the first time, after having paid tens of thousands of rand on premiums. They sent us a guy called Buddy Vroom, and Afrikaner white boy who is not afraid to break rules for as long as he finds reasons not to pay the claim. He has been trying to find evidence not to pay my claim and he has none, and that irks him it seems. I even asked him if he gets bonuses for making up evidence to decline the claims. I challenge him right here and right now to produce evidence justifying not paying the claim, for everyone to see and vilify/vindicate me.

When I call him to call him out of his **************, and his discriminatory and ******* tactics, he hung up on me. What a ***ard. MiWay can do better., really. We have been cooperating with him and answered all the question he asked, even personal. He asked for emails, medical record far beyond the incident timeline, banking detail not relevant to the incident, he is just shot of asking us to parade naked in the street, because he has that power, right? What a shame. The case is still pending and am sure if he can help it, he won't pay my claim, yet he took my car from my home to the s****yard.

Black people are not treated the same as white people in MiWay, at least that is my experience thus far. I have ask them to justify the requests of private and personal information and its relevance to the accident/case, and such justification hasn't come and I won't be surprised if such justification is not forthcoming, as the purpose is nothing else but to decline the claim. There are plenty of platforms this would be advertised/discussed on to expose this to everyone.... millions of my followers on social media would know for sure. Buddy is willing to do whatever it take to avoid paying R 85 000.... yes only R 85 000.

It seems a black man is guilty until he proves himself innocent, in your eyes, not the other way around.... What a shame. Respond to my email and justify all the personal information you ask of us.... and explain their relevance to the investigation... and how you plan to keep the information we share with you confidential, who is going access it and for how long... and where is it going to be stored securely and for how long....

If and when these are clearly and comprehensively addressed, we might consider sharing the most personal of the information you are asking us.... provided everyone else is asked the same and, not only black guilty-till-proven-innocent people, and there is a proof available to us on the consistency of treatment or standardised approach. Just treat us fairly, that is all am asking for. We deserve that, as we are human like anyone else.

I owe it to everyone who was encouraging/supporting me, my team and MiWay team to give feedback on what has happened. Am glad to say that after lots of voice calls and emails, the agreement between myself and MiWay was reached. We didn't have to fight and yell though before things could be solved, but am glad the solutions was reached.

I want to thanks Mr Rhulani Baloyi for his understanding and his attempts in trying to reach an amicable solution, I appreciate you sir, very much.... you deserve 5 stars and more. You are the only person that makes me want to reconsider my plans for leaving MiWay.
Mr Musso Miles, thanks for your dealing with my case expeditiously... I appreciate you. I also want to thank the Complaints department guy, Sakhele Mchunu for multiple calls he made to me. I appreciate you sir. Last but not least, I want to Thank the guy I yelled at the most Mr Buddy Vroom. No hard feelings sir, I was just frustrated and didn't believe you had my best interest at hard. You were probably just doing your job the way they expect you to. Balancing between transparency and POPIA could be tough but please try it as much as you can going forward.

Lastly, one has to ask one questions: Would I recommend MiWay to my friends and family? Well, that is a tough one. There is a lot of work MiWay needs to do to gain confidence from some of us in their willingness to honour/accept claims. My short answer would be: give them a benefit of a doubt, and be willing to FIGHT to get your claim(s) accepted and paid out.

We have to remember that the ONLY reason we have insurance is SO WE GET HELPED WHEN WE NEED IT: lower premiums and customer service come far second from that. Once we lose confidence in the ability/willingness to pay/accept claims, then we lose trust and hence would rather spend ouR money somewhere else. INSURANCE IS A GRUDGE PURCHASE, REMEMBER THAT. DONT MAKE IT WORSE BY MAKING A CLAIM PROCESS DIFFICULT.
