Additional excess

Both the consultants, Annelize & Cathy, were super nice and very efficient. That is the reason behind my rating. I do not understand something though and would really like it if someone from Miway Insurance could explain it to me. My husband was in a one car accident, which resulted in an additional R2500 on our excess. The wheel of the vehicle came off while he was driving, so its not like he drove the car into a pole or something out of negligence, this was something totally out of his control. So what we should learn from this incident is that, instead of him safely getting the car out of traffic, he should have instead tried to drive into oncoming traffic and hit another vehicle, endangering not only his own life, but that of another (or possibly even more people). If he did this instead, we would not have incurred the extra R2500 excess? This makes absolutely no sense to me. None. Please could someone clear this up for me?
