A claim still NOT settled after more than 7months

We had a burst geyser on July 13 2016 which left a lot of damage to our house and goods. We reported the incident to both Outsurance for the structure and Miway for the goods. A week later Outsurance had assessed and approved the claim. The appointed construction company started the work a week later. By mid August ceilings were changed, walls painted, wooden floors fitted, wardrobes in bedrooms & cupboards in study and office fitted, surged stove & ovens sorted. Miway took over a week before sending out an assessor. Eventually, we got an email telling us our bed which had been soaked all this time just needed cleaning. Some of our wooden furniture that was water damaged just needed to be refurbished - sanding & varnish, damaged posters & charts for our homeschool would not be replaced because we had thrown them away. We were given us an amount Miway was willing to pay for the items written off which we had to sign accepting it as final payment. When we asked for a breakdown of what this amount was for it turned out the amounts they were paying out were different to the quotations submitted. After lots of fighting and always having to ask for updates they agreed to pay for the quoted amounts. Some of the furniture they said would be refurbished could not be fixed so they agreed to pay for them and a dining suite which the assessor had said is written off because it couldn't be fixed - they turned around and said it wasn't damaged by water when it very obviously is. Nevertheless, there is still settlement money that has not been paid to us nearly 8 months later. We have written asking when this claim would be fully settled to Rachel Lewis numerous times with no response, escalated to her manager Jacqueline Naidoo who has also not bothered to respond. This was our first claim with Miway after many years of paying and I can tell you now - we have no reason for staying with them! Pathetic and unprofessional is what comes to mind when Miway is mentioned!
