Mitchell Guesthouse review

I booked the Mitchell Guesthouse for the 17th April 2025 and we were suppose to checkout on the 20th April 2025. I was traveling with my kids. We arrived there on the 17th April 2025 , we checked in around 20h00pm. Arriving there , the Guesthouse smelt horrible , there was a persistent bad smell that did not want to leave no matter how long we had the the door opened. The place was very dirty and looked nothing like the pictures that were being sold online when we booked. The ceiling had rats running around and there were holes. The beds were supported by wooden boards that were in such terrible conditions. One bed was even supported by an old door. The bathroom door had sallotapes in certain areas as it was also in bad condition. The kitchen sink had only one tap working and it was cold water. After realizing all this , we decided to call the property owners as we were not happy about the conditions of the place. The property owner came to the door and when we told him about the condition of the place , the owner told us to cancel the booking through bookings.com and leave their premises within 15 minutes. He told us he could not give us any other option and could not assist us , the only way for us to cancel and leave. We then decided to call bookings.com , since this is where we booked the property , they told us they will call the property owners then get back to us. We got a call back from bookings.com and canceled the booking, we had our full money refunded to us by bookings.com. The owners refused to give us time to make calls in their property to organize where we would go. So we were chased out from the property and I had to stand outside the gate in the dark with the kids , with our luggage whilst making calls. This was a very horrible experience and very bad service coming from the owners of the property. I am not happy about the treatment that I got.
