Taking for an idiot for unacceptable work

I went to Minuteman press in Tygervalley because had such a good experience with the one in Kloof street. Tygervalley, however, was appalling. I was in “contact” with a staff member. It took way too long for her to respond to my updated quote requests and I actually had to phone the store to get her to respond to my emails. I had a deadline for delivery, but I was assured that it would be done on the Friday as requested. I made my payments and had all the files sent on the Tuesday, again to be done on Friday, and the delivery confirmed. On the Thursday before I emailed them asking for an update on collection. I get a message in the afternoon telling me now that they could not work with the file and that I would need to fix it. Now I was in a panic because they wouldn’t get the job done in time. Honestly, you can’t come to a person who has already paid in full and tell them the day before hand that you can’t use their work. I was only able to get them the updated artwork after 5:30pm. Then comes the product quality. I asked for a specific element on the final product. She did not say it couldn’t be done so I assumed it would be okay. Friday comes, I get the proof and they have not done it at all. This is completely what I did not want and did not request. Now I am stuck with a product I am not happy with but no time. I was now dealing with someone else about the file and I said that it was not what I wanted and was presumed to get something else. I even sent a reference from their Kloof street branch. What I got back was shoddy and even worse than I imagined. Someone had just drawn a line around it and it looked joke – they were taking me for an idiot. It was lazy and done with the need to cover up their mistakes. None of the finesse and quality I expected from my previous experiences. I had to just settle for the lesser of the 2, pretty much unacceptable, options. I thought that my complaint would end here, but on collection of my stickers they managed to make me even angrier. When I asked for the initial quote, I wanted to know what size the pages are they are printed on. I was told it was custom. What I got was a huge sheet of 80 stickers that I will now have to cut out myself. How much time would it have taken them to use their expensive guillotines to cut my stickers into squares? Is this not standard service? When I got to cutting them I thought they had redeemed themselves but adding extra stickers. However, it is a good thing because I was unable to use nearly 40 of the stickers as they were cut off in places or bubbled. I just got enough I would like to believe that they are actually not capable of doing the job but I think that the reality is that they left the job too late, couldn’t follow up on their promises and dried to flog me off with terrible work – which they got away with. And then make me do some of it myself. I would like a refund of at least 50% because of the half-assed job they did and that I had to do some it myself. Their service over a week was pathetic, their turn around worse, and then they think they can take for an idiot for what they produced.
