Know Your Own Procedure!

I am a SASSA pensioner and an artist. I do A3 – A2 pen/pencil/watercolor sketches. A month or 2 ago I went to Print Junction and printed an A2 pen/watercolor sketch. They did a great job and the result was amazing. Last week I thought – let’s try Minuteman which is a lot closer to me – and I will save R20 on petrol. After I submitted my digital pics, the lady told me it will be a few minutes and I left for a beer next door. They did not ask me to partake in any of the process. I fetched the color A2 print and a B&W A3 print an hour later. Both prints were very off color with bluish/grey backgrounds – which I expected to be white. I complained about this but paid anyway and took the useless prints - typical timid SA consumer…. On my way home I remembered about the “Consumer Act” and resolved to return the product and ask for my money back. So, I did this the next day, but ran into Tanya – the Manager. She refused point blank to return my money and said they print what they get. I also took with me the Junction print and showed her the difference. There was no comparison – any person with even one eye could see that. I told her I followed the exact same process with taking the photograph (Samsung S8). She refused to give my money back and said I should have told them to make it lighter. She opened the pic on her screen, and I held up the print to show her the huge difference. She wouldn’t budge – they just run what they get through their software - as is – and then print. I told her I don’t have their software to test, and I am not a professional printer – that is why I had it printed at them in the first place! After more arguments and threats from myself about lawyer letters etc, she said she’ll meet me halfway and try another print. At this stage, I had NO confidence in them and just wanted my money back. I told her I will be doing this review on all platforms I can find. It didn’t disturb her in the slightest. Just said - then she will reply! I left and went directly to Junction. While there, I mentioned my bad experience to Bernie and she said, “In general – they are just as good as I am”. I did not agree at all, but how’s that for loyalty towards your direct competition? I attach a SINGLE photograph of the 2 prints next to each other for you to judge. I also looked up Minuteman online, and found it is a HUGE international company! I found this on their Return Policy: "All custom products are reviewed by the customer during the proofing process (either in person or online). Minuteman Press/International Minute Press is not responsible for errors not recognized during the proofing process". So - there it is - the locals did not comply with their international procedure. The lack of common sense is astounding and refusal to return less than R100 to a customer is self-defeating.
