Bad Attitude & Horrible Customer Serivce
On 11 January 2022 I fitted 4 235X35R19 Nexen Su1 Tyres on a brand new set of OZ mags (sealed boxes) at Mintys Tyres Midrand. The balancing was never 100% so while in Rivonia, I balanced all for wheels at Rivonia Tyres. The car drove like a dream! No shuddering or shaking whatsoever.
In June 2023, I had the unfortunate incident of hitting a pothole on Lesley Avenue in Douglasdale. This damaged my front left tyre.
I called Uzi at the Midrand branch, he had a tyre in stock and told me to come around - I went.
They said they would check the wheel and let me know if it too was damaged.
They fitted the tyre and I asked the technician 'is the wheel fine?' He rep**** 'Yes'. I was relieved as he assured me the wheel was fine. Uzi also mentioned - 'you are lucky the wheel is fine.'
The car was shuddering on the highway ever since I fitted the last tyre. Since Rivonia Tyres did a great job, I went to them to balance the wheels again and they tell me - your tyre is 'jumping'. I asked why - they said its probably a tyre manufacturer default.
So I go back to Mintys and explain to them what was told to me..
Uzi, his colleague and 3 technicians gang up on me shouting 'WE TOLD YOU THE WHEEL IS DAMAGED!'
My argument was: 'why would I spend R2500 for a tyre to fit onto a damaged wheel?' They continued to argue and say I am wrong and I knew the wheel was damaged. It became a nasty scene while customers witness. As I walk outside their technician says in vernacular - 'he's talking ****!'
While waiting outside, Uzi comes to me with cigarette in hand insisting I am wrong. Then puffs and walks away. No resolution or assistance to repair the damaged wheel. I asked them to put the tyres back on my car so I can leave.
Is this how you treat loyal customers? Do you smoke in front of all your customers? Do your customers 'talk ****?' Do you not care about your client's safety?
My view: They knew the wheel was damaged and sold me the tyre anyway to secure a sale.
This review is simply to make people aware of my experience with Uzi, his colleague and technicians at Mintys Midrand. I never went there expecting them to fit the bill for the damaged wheel and due to their bad attitude, I will no longer support them.
