Horrible Experience with Milpark Education

I am a part-time student at Milpark Education doing BCOM qualification. The reason I am writing this report, I would like to share my horrible experience with Milpark Education. I had an assignment due on 29 March 2023. I started the assignment and it was incomplete and I was hospitalized on 24 March 2023 and went for surgery same day. I was discharged on 25 March 2023. From Saturday, 25th March I had side effects after my surgery, severe bloated stomach I couldn't do anything, but only visiting bathroom without any success. On Tuesday, 28th March 2023, I was readmitted and on Wednesday, I emailed Milpark Education student support team, notifying them of my sickness and inability to submit my assignment. I was booked-off from, 24 March 2023 until 10 April 2023. After I felt better, I then continued with my assignment knowing that I have notified the institution of my health challenges. I paid the requested fee of R400 and Liezel Van Zyl was very helpful and assisted me and submitted on 17 April 2023. On 19 April 2023, Milpark Education responded to my Milpark email address and declined my request stating that "Your assignment was due 29 March and the document properties reflect last edited 17 April. We therefore cannot accept the assignment for marking as it reflects as completed after the 2 week extension date". I was shocked by the decision, I then emailed Shaaira Sackoor and Marilize Putter. In my email I then detailed all my emergency hospital admissions events: First admission - 01 January 2023 Second admission - 24 March 2023 Third admission - 28 March 2023

On my email to the two staff, I shared details of my prepaid trip to Zanzibar which I had to cancel on 02 January and money that I forfeited because of the same sickness. - I shared my surgeon and hospital details for Milpark to authenticate my doctor' sick note for all two admissions. I also requested my surgeon to share with Milpark Education my medical history so that an informed decision is made. My surgeon emailed my clinical notes to Marilize Putter, however, my appeal was still declined with all the evidence shared with Milpark Education. I shared with Milpark Education CEO, Andrew Horsfall, proof that I was preparing for 2023 registration, in December 2022. I shared with Milpark Education Executive Team, my proof of payment made on 05 January 2023. I shared with Milpark EXCO all emails sent to student support to release my study materials as early as Jan/Feb this how I determined I am. I shared with Milpark EXCO emails where I was requesting student support to upload my modules so that I can study and prepare adequately.

Unfortunately, There was also no time stipulated between myself and Student support team when I notified them that I was sick. My focus what to get my health challenges resolved.

Lastly, I did not choose to be ill, this is natural occurrence.
