Nostalgia vs Serice

To Whom It May Concern

The recent opening of Milky Lane in Vredenburg has not only added variety to the once limited choice in our reasonably small but expanding town, but also offered opportunity to provide a sense of nostalgia to those au fait the brand. Along with the memory came an seemingly presumpuous expectation of the retained quality and service. Our first experience was one in which there was no ice cream, which both my wife and I found odd. We however felt a sense of understanding considering that Milky Lane had just opened. This experience was soon forgotten after the first taste of our favourite ice cream at a later attempt. The lack of service was forgiven considering it seemed rather busy. For some unknown reason, susequent visits have rendered use speechless, and this time we feel the need to report it. Our last 3 visits have ended in us leaving, with the possibility of never returning to this branch for a few reasons. Firstly, on all occasions, there have NEVER been more then 2 orders being made on our arrival, and only the first time was our standing and waiting acknowledged. This was a polite but abrupt, "I will be with you now, I am just busy". Take note: This time there was 1 order being made by 2 individuals! We had to wait for the previous order to be made before we could even order. The last 2 attempts at purchasing anything, the final one being tonight, have seen us wait between 10 and 15 minutes while the previous order is being made. There was no attempt at acknowledging our presence, while standing in front of the till, and the manager was no where in sight. Upon leaving tonight, the manager was seen outside, smoking casually in a dark corner, oblivious to all going on inside. P.S. The order was for cappuccinos. It boggles my mind, how considering the existing economic climate, that service and attention to deal aren`t on the forefront of all staff`s minds. Maybe to them its just a job, or maybe, our nostalgia has clouded the truth and we have finally been disillusioned. Either way, I firmly believe that in a small town like Vredenburg, the last thing any business would want is negative word of mouth. Please note that this is in NO way a threat of any kind but rather an attempt at helping revive nostalgia, not only in our minds, but in each and every bite of each and every customer.

Your time and attention on this matter is appreciated.

Sincerest Thanks
