Bad service & workmanship compromised home security for 8 nights

It took Mildo four visits from date of installation to get the lock sorted out on the sliding door they installed at my place. My house was not secure for eight nights and this did not concern Mildo Projects in the least - when they know very well about the safety risk in Johannesburg. They have to date made no apology, Shaun the manager has not responded to any of my emails and no offer to help towards security needed during that time has been made by Mildo. I have seen similar complaints about Mildo, not concerning themselves with people's safety by leaving homes in a compromised, unlocked state. How can it take a company four visits to get a lock sorted out which should have gone in properly on date of installation. One technician even arrived on site after installation date, without any lock to replace the faulty one and had to leave again without being able to assist whatsoever. I have never experienced such bad service.

It is always very unfortunate when a client elects to make allegations of “bad service and workmanship” without disclosing all the relevant information.

In accordance with a written, signed agreement we installed two sliding doors for the complainant on 10 June 2019. The payment terms stipulated that a 50% deposit should be paid, 40% payment on commencement of the installation and the balance on completion of the installation. To date, the complainant has failed to make payment of an outstanding balance of R 8 407.69.

Both sliding doors were installed on 10 June 2019 with working locks, but we had to replace the door handle and the complainant stated that they could not unlock the door. We attended at the premises on 12 June 2019 to inspect same. The complainant was not present and advised that she was abroad. On 13 June 2019 we again attended at the complainant’s premises and repaired the lock. We showed the housekeeper how to lock and unlock the door.

On Saturday 15 June 2019 at 7.43 PM the complainant sent us an email stating that her mother is unable to lock the sliding door. We again, on 18 June 2019, attended at the premises and although we could not find anything wrong with the lock, replaced the lock and ensured that the new lock was in a good working order and again showed the housekeeper how to use the lock.

On 18 June 2019 we requested the complainant to advise when we can meet her on site, but didn’t hear from the complainant again and didn’t receive payment for the outstanding balance of R 8 407.69. On 4 July, 9 July and 17 July 2019 we repeated our request to meet with her on site, without any response from the complainant and on 25 July 2019 instructed our attorneys to send her a letter of demand for the outstanding balance.

She immediately responded to our attorney’s letter of demand advising that we should proceed to court and on 28 July 2019 she wrote a letter to our manager, Shaun, demanding an apology and now she is complaining that our manager is not responding to her mails.

As requested by the complainant, this matter will now unfortunately have to proceed to court.
