Undisclosed new account applications and monthly costs

Miladys accounts department

I recently went i to a clothing outlet in Bluff Towers as I was looking for something to wear for my son's wedding. While there one of their personnel asked me if i wanted to open an account. I stated not as I never normally support their shops as i find them overpriced so I would be paying cash. She continued pressuring me and advised as i was a pensioner I would get applicable discounts etc. I agIn said it was a one off purchase. She further pressured with all sorts of other perks that would be available. Eventually to placate her i filled in their account application form. She said mt account would only take a few minutes to open. I agreed and went to woolworths to brows around for a while. On my return i was advised they needed a copy of my bank statement. I had one in my bag and she sent it off. We Waited. Eventually I told her I was returning to the Bluff the next day and would pick up the dress, my account card and obviously would get. My discount. That afternoon I got a message asking for my last 3 payslips. It had stated on the form that I completed that I am retired. I phoned them and advised them to read the form correctly. I received multiple more requests. I phoned them and, by then totally irritated, advised them to cancel the whole thing and by now was so ticked off with their admin I no longer was going to complete my purchase after all. A few days later i am sent a reference number to collect my account card. I happened to be in the Pavilion centre and rather than have a card not claimed i went into their outlet there to collect my card. I was given a form to sign but read the smallprint first. It included the fact that there is a monthly service charge. I queried this as I was not informed of this at the Bluff. I refused to sign the form, put a huge cross on it from corner to corner and told them I had already cancelled my account application but had been notified my account had none the less been opened. I insisted that the card be destroyed in from of me. They contacted the accounts department and advised them and i was told it was resolved. I now received an SMS advising I owe Milady's money. I contacted their accounts and complained and they advised they would write off the amount. I advised i wanted a credit not a write off as this could affect my credit rating and requested they send me a message to that effect. I'm still waiting. I will charge them with ***** by omission of fact unless I receive this notification of a credit from them. Please be aware to ask about cost implications before ever applying for an account with them as you could unwittingly be accepting liability for an account initiation fee, monthly admin fees and club membership. I was advised of none of this when being coerced into opening an account which I had advised I would probably never use again anyway. SHOPPERS BEWARE TO INSIST ON ALL COST IMPLICATIONS BEFORE SIGNING ANYTHING.

I do not want the amount written of as this can then reflect as a non payment on my credit standing. I asked for a credit and an sms to advise me thereof. Very poor and slow response. More than frustrated. Totally disgusted with the admin and the lack of product knowledge or deliberate withholding of information. It shows a total lack of good business practice.
