Mike Grant Refused to Acknowledge Poor Service

My car overheated on the N3 highway. It had been overheating a few weeks prior to this and the fan had been replaced by my usual mechanic. It had run well for over a week and then overheated again. I called Mikes Mechanics on the advice of a mechanic in Durban. Mike sent two mechanics to salvage the vehicle. They bled the cooling system and started to drive the vehicle (despite arriving in a tow vehicle). Within 5km the temperature gauge was again in the red. They continued to drive the vehicle in this state for a further 30km to the workshop. The vehicle stood at the workshop for five days. When it was assessed I was informed that a cylinder head had cracked. We requested the vehicle be released and our regular mechnic towed it to his workshop. He detected more than R70000 of damage and felt the engine could not be salvaged. Mike Grant charged R1254 for his sevices. When I queried my bill he said it had been after hours (14h00 on the day before a public holiday) and refused to acknowledge that his mechanics should have towed (and not driven) the vehicle. He blamed my original mechanic's workmanship and me (for driving the vehicle)! He would not refund me or reduce his fee.
