Mike's Kitchen Eastgate: terrible food and management

We went there for lunch: 1.30 pm. Ordered rump steak with chips and chicken schnitzel with vegetables. The rump, although spot on rare, was tough and some parts inedible. The chips were not properly cooked; the onion rings were limp and dripping with oil. The schnitzel was small and paper thin, tasteless and had a mound of grated cheddar on top to disguise the size of the meat. I was told that they had run out of spinach so the kitchen dumped mashed potato on the plate instead. The manager came after we expressed dissatisfaction to the waitron. He told us that their meat supplier provided them with substandard cuts yesterday. When I showed him the thinness of the chicken he said that the kitchen had obviously taken a small piece of chicken and hammered it paper thin with the tenderizer in order to make it appear bigger. He apologised - but we were still charged the full amount as though nothing had gone wrong! Never again.
