Good day

For the past 5 years on my kids’ birthday, we go to Mike’s Kitchen Klerksdorp. On my Kids request, they don’t want parties they want to go to Mike’s Kitchen. It’s almost like a tradition that they started.

Last night we went as my Boy turned 10. It was a big occasion for him and as always, he wanted to eat at Mike’s Kitchen.

Apon Arrival the staff greeted us nicely at the door and we were seated. Our waiter arrived and took our drink orders.

So far everything was very nice as always.

When he returned with the drinks he asked if he could take our order, and I asked for the specials. Here things went south.

He was aggravated to give the specials, but he did, I could make out 2 of I think 4 specials as he was talking so fast. Never mind I gave him our orders. At this time, I told him that its my child’s birthday. As the singing part is the highlight of his night. As kids are

I also asked for drinks refills

He then arrived with the food, no drinks. I ask can we get the drink as well, “o yes its on its way” was the response.

My food was cold, and my husband’s burger was so dry, but we didn’t mind as we saw that it started to get busy.

He never again came to the table to ask if we needed anything.

Waiters was scrambling all over the place taking away tables and chairs, and the saddest thing off all is none of them had a smile on their faces. It was like they did like being there.

After we ate, we called upon him. He immediately took away the sauces on the table and took it to another table, not asking if we wanted anything else. He then asked if he could bring us takes-away bags and the check. So obviously I didn’t ask for dessert. We usually order desert, because when they sing to the birthday boy, he gets ice cream then we eat desert as well.

I said yes, he can bring it, at this point he told us they will not be singing to him as they are to busy.

He didn’t receive his ice-cream or the joy of someone singing to him.

He then left the table. After a while we stood up and when to the cashier to pay as he didn’t return.

I waited a while at the cashier, no one asked if I needed help, everyone was just scrambling around. At one point one of the waiters almost bump into me, I took a step back and when she turned her response was “askies net” .(I really do hope you have cameras at the cashier, so you can see this encounter) I mean really what was going on with the waiters??? I never saw this behavior.

After a while, the waiter returned to the cashier. Upon his arrival I asked if I could speak to the manager. At that point the Manager was standing next to me the whole time, he was busy placing walking ins. He told me he is the Manager. I explained to him everything that has happened, while my waiter was listening. ( Because I wanted him to be present)

The Manager took my number and said someone will call me.

Our waiter then charged my card, and I left..

NO APPOLIGIES, nothing!!!!

It seems that they don’t know how to handle a Monday night rush.

1. We were there early, before the rush 2. We were supposed to be served like any other person 3. They should have made us a priority as they would any other client

We waisted our money and time.

And we will NEVER return to Mike’s Kitchen Klerksdorp.
