Absolutely Pathetic

On Monday night I had the most horrifying experience at Mikes Kitchen Lambton. So much so that I will never set foot in a Mikes Kitchen ever again.

We phoned Monday morning to make a reservation for dinner as we wanted to celebrate your birthday and enjoy your birthday special.

Upon arrival we got taken to our booth and we were given our menus. We were 3 adults and 2 children. The waitress took our drink and starter order. I just have to express that the restaurant wasn’t very busy that night.

We ordered 3 Haloumi Cheese starters. It took close to 30 minutes for us to get our starter. When it arrived the waitress only brought one plate to the table. After about 5 minutes we enquired where the rest is as we would like to eat together, that’s the whole point of going out for dinner, she advised us that she made a mistake and only put through one by accident. We told her that it is fine, everyone makes mistakes, but let’s get it right for the rest of the evening.

We ordered two steak specials, a chicken special and a Fillet. From here everything went downhill. I will list my complaints. 1. We asked what the veggies of the day was, we were told pumpkin and spinach, so my guest ordered that to have with her meal as it is the only vegetables she eats. The problem here is we only received spinach and other vegetables that was inedible. Also it didn’t come with the food. I only arrived half way through the meal. 2. My daughter ordered steak, Her steak was so full of sinew I had to cut her meat into smaller pieces cause she couldn’t. She battled to eat her food and after her meal was done she was still hungry. She is 11. I did bring it under managements attention and he didn’t charge us for her meal. It still saddens me that my daughter wasn’t satisfied with her meal after looking forward to it so much. 3. I ordered steak. I asked both the waiters on duty to please make sure my food isn’t on a hot plate. I enjoy my steak medium rare and as soon as it goes on a hot plate it gets cooked more to the point where it is overcooked and I refuse to eat it. The manager confirmed that he was in the kitchen and heard my request. I also ordered a glass of red wine to have with my main meal. The food arrived on a hot plate, I sent it back to the kitchen. They then prepared a new steak and I received it. I was halfway done with my meal when my wine arrived???????

I feel sorry for our waitress, Aleona. From the moment we made our reservation until the moment we left she tried her utmost best to keep us happy. That poor girl looked like she was running the entire restaurant on her own. She easily served 70% of the guests in that restaurant. She had all the big tables, she answered the telephone, she greeted guests at the door. The manager on duty, Chris, is the most pathetic excuse for a manager I have come across in my life. He was hiding away in the office all evening and we only saw him twice. His solution to our problem was offering us vouchers. I don’t want vouchers, I never want to set a foot in that place again as I don’t want to be disappointed a second time. I think he should go back to which ever college he studied at and demand his money back because he runs that place like it’s his daddy’s restaurant and he will get into trouble if he had to give a meal away. It’s almost like he’s not authorised to make decisions to keep his customers happy and to maintain a good reputation. The only thing enjoyable was the alcohol cause that wasn’t prepared in house.

The service was poor, The time we waited between meals is ridiculous. The quality of food was below standard. I am so disappointed that I don’t want to visit a Mikes Kitchen ever again.

I emailed head office and they haven't even bothered to respond. Absolutely Pathetic
