I engaged a contractor operating through GRSS (materials) and a related labour business to carry out roof repairs and associated building work at my property. Unfortunately, my experience raised a number of concerns regarding workmanship, material handling, and overall project outcomes. Following the roof repair work, leaks persisted, which raised questions about the effectiveness of the repairs carried out. There were also concerns regarding material selection and installation in certain areas. For example, ceiling boards used as drywall appeared thinner than expected for this application, and the finishing of the skimming work was uneven, with visible inconsistencies along corners and wall surfaces. In relation to the cladding, only certain sections were replaced while others were sanded and retained. In my experience, this approach did not fully resolve the underlying issues, particularly given the presence of untreated wood. The process also extended timelines and contributed to additional costs. Materials procured through GRSS included items that, based on later assessment, appeared unnecessary, as well as materials that were damaged after being left exposed to the elements for an extended period. There were also inconsistencies in approach, such as treated cladding being installed in some areas but not others, which was not clearly explained at the time. In addition, I have not received reimbur*****t for work that was paid for in advance but not completed, despite significant time having passed. I also experienced issues with plumbing work carried out, including the absence of certain standard components, which required correction by other contractors. As a result of the above, I had to engage new contractors to address and rectify a number of these issues, and in some cases redo work entirely, which resulted in additional costs. Based on my experience, I would recommend exercising caution before engaging this service provider. This matter has been referred to my attorney and is currently being addressed through the appropriate legal channels.
