*****ing double payments
We had to take our daughter through to Midvaal Hospital during the December break 2017 as we were holidaying at the Vaal Dam. We had no medical savings left in our Medical Aid, which we were aware of. The admissions lady did a check and confirmed there were no savings, and because of this we would be charged as private patients (have to pay cash for the consult). Absolutely no problem with this - we agreed, and were given a different file folder with PRIVATE PATIENT clearly visible. We had our consult and paid the cash. I do not remember the exact amount but I think it was R1200. Only to find that come the new year, and a fresh full savings account, Midvaal also claimed the amount from our discovery savings account. Wow how convenient for them. They have now been paid twice for the same visit. We have been trying since the beginning of the year to get this money paid back into our savings account, but no surprises that we have had no luck. Be careful when going here and paying as a private patient - they may just quietly charge your savings account once there are funds available again.
