Inconsistent Return Policy from Branch to Branch

I was dissapointed to learn that Midas branches operate under different return policies...

I bought some car spares to the value of R720.11 from Jaymees Midas Roodepoort on Tuesday 8 Nov 2016 @ 12:18. When my mechanic worked on my car, the next day he discovered the parts I bought were not the problem he initialy thought it was. I had bought the wrong parts due to an initial car misdiagnoses. I then went to the same Midas branch to return the items for a cash refund. I was shocked to learn tha I could not get a cash refund from this particular branch for something that was never used and was still in it's original packaging a mere two days later. I was told the only option I had was to get a voucher to use in their store. I then asked for the manager. She was at another branch in Florida so I decided to call her. When I enquired about why this particular Midas store does not accept cash refunds, she was quick to say that Midas stores have different return policies as they have different owners and I will not get a cash refund. My only option was to get a voucher to use in their store.

First of all, I have never experienced this policy from other Midas stores before.

Secondly, a lot of people who buy car spares at a Midas are no car fundis and make the decision to buy the parts on the recomendations of a third party(mechanic).

Thirdly, one of the main reasons we, as customers, prefer buying from the established franchise types is that we like consistency in policies and procedures. How on Earth are we suposed to know whether this store has this policy and another one has another policy? I suggest you put big signs at your door entrance stating that this store has a no cash refund policy instead of sneaking it onto your invoice. If I had known this store does not have a cash refund policy prior the purchase, I would not have made the purchase from that branch.

How can I buy something I have limited knowledge on without a cash refund option? As consumers, we rely on reputabe brands to give us good consistent service.
