CPA Violation – Warranty Ignored & Disrespectful Treatment at Buffalo Midas Mthatha and Battery Centre Vulidlela Heights, Mthatha

I purchased a battery on 11 September 2024 with a two-year warranty. The battery is now faulty, yet Buffalo Midas and Battery Centre Vulindlela Heights have refused to honour the warranty.

Buffalo Midas simply redirected me to the supplier instead of assisting. At Battery Centre Vulindlela Heights, staff refused to test the battery and immediately claimed the terminals were damaged, without any inspection or diagnostic proof.

When I challenged this, I was told to “go wherever you want” and that they “do not care.” This level of conduct is unacceptable.

In terms of the Consumer Protection Act (CPA), Section 56, consumers are entitled to safe, good-quality goods and the right to a repair, replacement, or refund when goods fail within the warranty period. Refusing to test the battery and dismissing a valid claim is a direct violation of the CPA.

I am formally demanding a immediate replacement or refund. Failing this, I will escalate the matter to Midas Head Office and the National Consumer Commission (NCC).
