Beware of "guarantees".

Please be cautious for false guarantees. We recently built a house with a concrete slab roof. We bought the waterproofing materials from Midas Paints/Earthcote in Somerset West, which came with a guarantee. Their representative was on site the day when we app**** it to make sure it was app**** corrently. Needless to say, six months later when the rains started, water started seeping through the slab. We have tried for over a year now to get them to honour their guarantee. They came back now with all kinds of excuses in their reports saying why they are not responsible. None of which were mentioned before the application. Besides, as mentioned, their representative was on site to oversee the procedure. This has been a very frustrating experience which also has resulted in damages, to furniture and carpeting.
