Windows messed up updates

As a Microsoft 365 subscriber, windows gives mandatory updates ie. No choice provided to the user. My system consequently crashed. Microsoft's support services including copilot gave me a run around that would've landed me on planet mars...Iv taken my machine (10 month old) to a repair shop who are charging me an amount equating windows, to basically reinstall windows. And according to them, many users in the course of the latest Windows compulsory (aka 1984 big brother) update have been experiencing the same issue. The windows website offers no solution or remedy or assistance. I guess windows support are ghosts who only spark to life at the scent of "non payment"???amazing 🤔
