Downgrade

I need windows server 2008 R2 std but you cant buy it any more, so I bought server 2012 R2 std after I spoke to Microsoft themselves. Now I need to downgrade to 2008.<br> In short you activate 2008 by using 2012 product key and the only way to do it is to phone the activation line and speak to an operator.<br> I have been on the phone over 4 hours and spoke to about 25 people. everytime im transferred the person tells me im at the wrong department and puts me through to another, and so it continues, every person unable to help and puts me through to another un-helpful person. All this after Microsoft told me and I read that I am able to downgrade and have the right to do so.<br> <br>
