*********** much?

Not too impressed. I recently bought a second hand Chevrolet Captiva 2.4 LT automatic 2015. Had these guys do the pre purchase inspection. In the pre purchase inspection a leak was supposedly detected in the aircon system. Some 2 days later when another team performed a full service on the vehicle it was determined by one of their aircon specialists that the aircon was indeed in excellent condition. The mechanics discovered a leak on the oil sump in addition to other issues uncovered in the full service being the electronic handbrake and tappet cover gasket.

I booked them again to address these, only to have 1) the mechanic arrive without the correct gasket 2) on going back to the office to collect the correct one to be informed they don't have one so my car must stand until the following week.

I find it abhorrent that some of their mechanics are excellent and some *********** or perhaps its a head office issue. Either way, if a car is booked and the details noted why send a mechanic 1) that has no knowledge of the vehicle he is working on for pre inspection and 2) send a mechanic to perform engine work on a vehicle without the correct part.

Unacceptable performance on the part of this company, I merely hope they take cognizance of this and address these issues or time will pay its dividends. These mechanics are not cheap, I would have hoped for and expected so much better of them. If you pay peanuts you get ******s. I'm not paying peanuts for this I definitely did not expect to be getting ******s. Perhaps this is the reason mechanics are dubbed "grease ******s" ?

On contacting the management regarding the incident besides him trying to shout me down he insists that being a Chevrolet and parts being hard to source that the risk was my own. The company will "attempt" to execute the repair as contractually obliged but any losses incurred to me through their incompetence is not their responsibility and no recompense will be offered or made. I've since handed the matter over to my legal advisors.

In summary...these are ******s. Expensive ******s. Take the risk and use them but expect incompetence. Its company policy.

Its a sad day indeed when a company such as this has to be contacted by the client to resolve the issue at hand. No management contact whatsoever nor timeline given on resolution. I had to also source the part, part numbers and availability for them. And one hopes to use these guys and trust they will actually do the job correctly? Somehow I doubt this. The mere fact that the complaint is not even taken into cognizance says it all. Do not touch these guys with a barge pole. Find a reputable mechanic, these guys are not it.

It seems this matter is concluded favorably with great thanks to Thulane the customer services person at Michanic. He and myself managed together after two entire days to secure the required part. Thulane went over and above his station to secure an favorable outcome in this matter and to ensure that the original mechanic Ndumiso do the successful install . This man single handedly has saved Michanic a client. I will thanks to him continue to use Michanic. I merely hope that Michanic as a company learns from the lessons gained in this and applies them in the future. Thank you Thulane, well done.
