Michanic... pathetic.

I first contacted Michanic at the beginning of December and set up a “diagnostic” for the 6th of December. The original issue was a sound emanating from the engine, though the car itself was driving just fine. The guy arrived on time and made a diagnosis. No problem. He said a pipe connected to the power steering needed replacing, and that I would get a quote in a day or so for the job. Days went by… no response… so I sent an email reminder to Michanic. Two weeks went by, so eventually I sent a less polite reminder. The quote was finally sent. No explanation for the delay. I immediately booked the “repair” and paid a whole bunch more money. The guy came through for the 12H00 booking and explained that he would need to take the pipe away to be repaired as apparently you cannot get the pipes in South Africa. I have no idea whether this is true, but I made him promise he would come back later in the day and finish the job. He didn’t. That was Friday the 20th. Monday… no news… just radio silence. On Tuesday he just randomly arrives and goes over to my neighbour to get them to call me to let him in. Huh? So… I did. He came and claimed to have finished the job. Thirty minutes or so after he left I thought I would take the car to the shops. On first rev, a ****** awful sound could be heard. Within a few meters of reversing towards my driveway gate, it became obvious that the power steering isn’t working. Argh! So I called Michanic… several times…. The longest attempted call reached half an hour and then just cut off. I have my doubts to whether the phones are even being manned. Certainly, there has been no encouragement from the other end of the phone. So, after 18 days in the hands of Michanic my car is in worse condition that when it started (it ran fine then) and they are, once again incommunicado. I have to start pushing the issue or clearly I will not have a car before the new year. Hopefully, Hello Peter is a good place to start.
