False Diagnostics and Loss of Money

Extremely disappointing service and loss of money due to false diagnostics. I had a check engine light come on and they charged me over R700 to come out and have a look, which I was fine with, After changing the plugs which cost R900, I was advised the cause of the problem was a faulty injector, I opted to buy my own part and Michanic charged over R1000 for labour, the injector cost R6930, after the mechanic changed the injector, I was told that it was not an issue at all and the engine had to be stripped and inspected which will cost a further R2500. at this point I stopped using Michanic and went to a reputable service centre that eventually identified the problem and my car is back on the road, If Michanic did a proper inspection and did a compression test before requesting the injector be changed i would have saved R8000 (R7k for the injector and R1k for the labour approx.) Better to go with a reputable garage or service centre.
