Selling old defective goods.

I have bought material to erect a carport from M.G. and Building Supply and Wholesale on 27 June 2017 which was delivered to my property on the 29th of June 2017. I started painting the square tubing and lipped channel in the coming weeks and completed the structure on 12 August 2017. When I wanted to put the nine (9) 5.2m Chromadek IBR sheets on the structure, I found that all the sheets have defects in the paint on both sides of the sheets. I contacted Mohammed Gani the owner of M.G. and Building Supply and Wholesale and asked him to exchange the Chromadek sheets. Mohammed Gani refused to exchange the defective material or to give me a refund (R4400). After investigation it was found that: • Chromadek IBR sheets were manufactured in 2013-12-01 which makes it very old stock. • M.G. and Building Supply and Wholesale has no VAT number and only do cash deals.

It will cost me a further R1800 to sand down and repaint the defective Chromadek sheets.
