Unhappy with non-payment of claim

I have a funeral cover with Metropolitan that I took in February and it started deducting in March. The debit date for the policy is 27th of each month and all 6 premiums were received. My father passed away on 30 August 2019. According to Metropolitan he was supposed to die on 31 August for the claim to be paid. Can they not atleast treat us with humanity and show Ubuntu in such cases. Metropolitan was my only hope to disappoint me at a time life this.

According to the reject letter received from them, they stated that 6 consecutive premiums must be received in order to qualify for a funeral cover. Indeed the 6 premiums were received as the 6th one was received on 27 August 2019. Why are you now contradicting yourselves. Kindly please assist me and deal with my case with kindness please, I really need this payment to cover the funeral costs!

Dear Nokulunga

We regret to learn of the difficulties around your claim.

The product you refer to has a 6 month waiting period on natural causes of death.
  • The premium you pay during the month (any date) pays the policy for the whole of that month (from the first day to the last day of that month)

From your complaint it seems as if your father sadly passed away one day before the waiting period on natural causes of death expired.

One of our Client Care Assessors will investigate and revert back to your as soon as possible.

Regards

All 6 consecutive premiums were paid.
No compassion at all for people, it's only business and money coming to you. When I think I defended your company last month when people were telling stories about how cruel your company is during a presentation at my workplace.

You cannot be contradicting your statements, you said 6 consecutive premiums should be received to qualify for a funeral policy.

Dear Nokulunga

Thank you for your additional post.

We don't dispute that you have paid 6 consecutive premiums.

Unfortunately paying your policy in line with the product requirements is not the only requirement for a successful claim.

One of our Client Care Assessors will email you a more in depth explanation.

Unfortunately, the waiting period on natural causes of death had not quite passed when the insured passed due to natural causes.

Regrettably the claims assessor mentioned the 6 premiums that need to be paid in the repudiation letter, instead of the 6 month waiting period that has not elapsed.

This has been brought to our attention and we have taken this up with management to address with the relevant parties.  The incorrect letter will be retracted and the claim reviewed again.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused you
