SMS Marketing
POPIA- I received an SMS from Metropolitan Life regarding a funeral cover. And i rep**** Yes in an effort to find out where there got my details and consent to market to me. The Agent could not respond and dropped my call. I also sent an email to their complaints and no one responded. I did not opt in to be marketed to any products. Why is this still happening.

We acknowledge receipt of your complaint on HelloPeter.
Please note that Metropolitan takes your right to privacy and protection of your personal information seriously and would now knowingly infringe on these rights.
Metropolitan does source marketing lists from various external data houses for our marketing campaigns. Your details must have been on one of these companies/data houses mailing lists.
As a responsible insurer, we check these "Leads" against our Do Not Contact Register and against the Direct Marketing National Opt Out register, before contacting prospective clients for our campaigns. We do not call clients who have indicated that we may not call them.
The consultant would however not be able to see from which data house's mailing list your details were obtained.
This being said, there is no excuse for dropping the call instead of explaining to you that the information is not available to them. Please accept our sincere apology for any poor service experienced.
One of our Client Care Assessors will be in contact with you, to obtain the necessary details to add you to our Metropolitan Do Not Contact Register. You are also welcome to add your name to the National Opt Out Database, if you so wish.
Regards
Client Care Team
