we acknowledge receipt of your complaint on HelloPeter.
We also received an emailed complaint from you and responded yesterday.
Please note that in terms of Regulation 4.2 of the Long Term Insurance Act, a policy is automatically restricted for the first 5 years of its existence to allow only one loan and one surrender, be it full or partial surrender. The same restriction rules apply when one increases one's policy premiums by more than 20 % of the average of the previous two years premiums.
Please consult our emailed response for more details on how this restriction affects your policy specifically.
Also please note that a restriction is not a Metropolitan Term and Condition that we can decide to waive or not. These restrictions are legislated by government and we have no option but to abide by them.

Thank you for your additional comments, the content of which is noted.
Metroplitan is an accountable institution and need to abide by all of the country's laws.
Much as though we would like to assist you, we are bound by the Long Term Insurance Act, just like our policyholder.
We have also responded by email explaining to you that our application form for the policy referrs to these restrictions, as well as the policy contract you were issued with and also the application form for the transaction.
You were therefore informed of this legislation before you took the policy, when the policy was issued and when you transacted on the policy.
We regret that we are unable to give you any other answer than what we are bound to give by law.

Please check your emails.
Again, there is nothing we can do to change the fact that your policy is restricted by law.
