****** by Metropolitan

Good evening Peter

I write with great sadness, anger and with the hope that you will assist me. I took out a funeral policy with Metropolitan in 2005 and have been covered since then. In March 2016 I realised that my debit order was no longer going through. I had no idea why this happened. I went to the branch in Dundee where they told me my policy had lapsed because the premiums were not received since January 2015.

I then called the head office. The consultant I spoke to indicated that the I last paid my premiums in October 2015 and i should pay the outstanding premiums and they will consider reinstating my policy. I paid R1000 on 25 April 2016 and sent an email to metropolitan on the same day as instructed. I followed up by email on 29 April 2015. To date I have not received any feedback.

I then decided to go to the branch again today. They Told me I last paid premiums in September 2014. It is quite ironic that every time I get a different date yet it is the same company. I was told that they cannot reinstate my policy and I should apply for a new policy and claim the money I paid in April. I'm 64 years old and I find it unreasonable that I am expected to start a new policy now when it was not even my fault that my debit order was stopped.

I have paid premiums since 2005. Not even a single day did I receive a letter from Metropolitan advising that my premiums are not up to date.

Is this how Metropolitan rob people of their money?

If I am to start a new policy I want all my premiums from 2005. I cannot take out a new policy at age 64.

Peter, please help. Will you also give me details of any national newspaper. I want the whole of South Africa to know how I have been ****** by Metropolitan. Hopefully they will stop.

I await to hear from you Peter.

Thank you

Duduzile
