Poor service from Metropolitan

My debit order runs on the 20th of each month. Metropolitan decided to deduct on the 18th in February, resulting in an unpaid debit order and when I asked them, the consultant made it my fault for not having sufficient funds in my account. Who said they must deduct on the 18th? I did a manual payment and sent them proof of payment and then followed up via email - twice if they have received the funds. NO ONE has bothered to respond. Should the policy lapse who is going to be at fault here.

Dear Innocentia
We acknowledge receipt of your complaint on HelloPeter.

We are sorry to read of the difficulties you have encountered with your deductions.  Banks generally wont process debit orders over weekends and public holidays. Kindly note that when your deduction date falls on a weekend or public holiday (non-business days), the debit will be processed before or after the weekend/public holiday.
One of our Client Care Assessors will contact you to confirm if you wish the debit to be taken before or after the weekend/public holiday if the debit date falls over a weekend or public holiday.

Regards

Client Care Team
