Over due - death claim
We have lodged a death claim more than three months and they keep on asking for the same documents we have sent. I am under the impression that they are delaying the process deliberately to buy time. This is such incompetence and unprofessionalism. The children are the beneficiaries whom are dependent on the payout, for their living expenses. But they take us from pillar to post. People should never take Metropolitan policies they are very ***** and dishonest.

Please note that a Retirement Annuity falls under the provisions of the Pension Funds Act and Income Tax Act.
As such, we as the insurer have a duty to consider all the deceased's legal and financial dependents when deciding on the distribution of the proceeds.
During the course of the assessment, our Claims Assessors have been in contact with you on several occasions, requesting additional documentation. The latest communication was via SMS on 24th September 2022.
One of our Client Care Assessors will be in contact soonest, to update you on the outstanding requirements, in case you did not trace the latest SMS.

- Typically these claim assessments take longer than a death claim on a funeral policy or life cover policy.
- Often, family dynamics being as different and unique as each of our valued policyholders are from one another.
- Therefore it is not possible to know ahead of time all the requirements that we may require.
- We subsequently often need to request additional information to assess the claim, as information unfolds regarding dependency on the deceased.
