MISSING POLICIES

I'm in possession of 3 paid up policies of my late father. It was paid up 1980's / 1990. I have been advised that there is no trace of it because it's so old. They asked me to physically go the the nearest of office with the old books to see "what they can do"! What if I didn't have the books.

They were however able to trace 2 funeral policies taken out about the same time.

How is all of this possible?

Dear Sonia

We acknowledge receipt of your complaint on HelloPeter.

We are sorry to learn that your father has passed on.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family during this time of bereavement.

We always strive to serve all our clients well and regret reading that some of your father's policies are not found on our records.

Please be advised that these old Home Service policies were marketed and serviced by Financial Advisers at the client's home.
  • Advisers issued these policy booklets to the client and recorded the client's surname, initial, age at entry, premium and sum assured, as well as the benefit table and term of the policy on manual registers.
  • Advisers then went to client's homes to collect premiums and paste receipts into their policy booklets.
  • In later years, clients went to their local Metropolitan office to pay premiums and pasted receipts in these booklets.
  • In the late 1980's/start of the 1990's we transferred the information on these registers to an electronic administration system.
  • As of 4/7/2017 we transferred them to a new policy administration system.

All of the above could be contributory factors as to why it may be difficult to trace all of your late father's policies on record.

One of our Escalation Specialists will reach out to your shortly to obtain more information in order for us to trace the last policy and advise what happened to it.

Regards

Client Care Team
