Metropolitan life does wanna pay me!

I took an investment policy with them and two years later I wanted to withdraw the money, they sent me form to fill in and asked that attach some documents and the money will be sent with the next 48 hours of receiving forms, I filled in forms and attached documents and emailed it back to them a week went by with no word from them I then called to ask what’s happening I was told that my documents are unclear I must send again, because I really needed this money that I had invested I quickly resent and waited three days later no word again I call I’m told now I must resend proof of residence then i sent my account statement, they sent me an sms saying they want municipality account then I sent my apartment rental statement from the agency which also includes my municipal account reading, again they sent me a sms to say they want municipal statement, I sent them an email clearly stating that I do not have municipal statement I do not get one I get that from the agent it includes the municipal reading and it’s clearly stated on the statement. Then day I get sms a gain just saying they want municipal statement as proof of address, I then asked why are they sending me these smses and not getting an agent to call me so as to explain to me what is wrong as the initially was harassing me to take a policy with them now they do not wanna pay me they just keep making excuses... I’m sick and tired of metropolitan life! Now no one calls me I’m now the desperate one with my money!

Dear Mpheletso

We acknowledge receipt of your complaint and regret that you feel you have had a poor client service experience.

Please note that a withdrawal from your policy is a financial transaction and therefore, in terms of FICA legislation, there are strict security checks that we, as an accountable institution, must adhere to for transactions and in so doing prevent possible Identity ***** or unauthorized persons posing as you, from accessing your funds.

To this end we are compelled to obtain proof of Identity and proof of address.

Regrettably, the residential address on the store account you submitted differs from the residential address listed on your bank statement, which is also supposed to be proof of your residential address.

If you don't receive a municipal account in your name that confirms which residential address is correct, another acceptable proof of address is a copy of your rental agreement (concluded in the last 12 months).

We trust that the above complies with your request and look forward to receiving the correct document to process the payment into your account soonest.

Regards

Client Care Team

Reviewer Update
Hi

I’ve been staying in my current residence for the past 5months and that is the proof of residence I’ve been sending you which will be different from my bank statement because I opened the account years back in my previous residence and have not felt the need to change it because it is my parent’s house... I will however send you my lease agreement!

I do not understand why was no one explaining this to be from the first place!
Thank you hellopeter!
