Metropolitan Death Claim

My late brother had two sons at the time of his passing. He was responsible for the both of them and the only breadwinner at home. The youngest son lived with his grandmother(the deceased's mother). For the longest time, we have been trying to claim; however we have been given three different stories. For starters, we were told that the deceased was responsible for three children, namely: Lerato, Lebogang and Kabelo. This does not make sense as he only had two sons and Lerato is the mother of one of his sons. Lebogang and Kabelo is in fact one person. I called in to clear this error and stated that they had recorded only one of his sons twice and we only knew Lerato as the mother of his first son and not his child. We were told that we need to sent through the GEPF pension pay out letters for all the minors. That was done, but no one returned to us with an update.

I again called the next day on the 16th of January inquiring about the same issue, I spoke to a Eunice who told us that they need the letter from both the children however the grandmother mentioned that she only had one letter, for the youngest son as he is the one who stays with her and that was Khumo Kagiso Dlamini. We also ensured that we sent through a letter from the social workers to prove that he is indeed under the care of the deceased's mother.

I called in again, later in the day and I spoke to a Catherine Peterson who gave a completely different story. We were informed that he was responsible for five people and everything is still pending. There was no talk of the missing documentation and we were told that the magistrate was supposed to have put someone in charge of the estate. The family's frustration is that his youngest son might not have the funds to return for another year at school as he is entirely dependent on the grandmother who is battling to pay his school and transport fees. It has gotten to a point where she had asked me to sent this to the papers hoping they will be able to assist as she is struggling to provide for the son.

Communication has been rather confusing as we received a call again from Ms. Peterson after she spoke to the person responsible for this case, thus [roves that there has been a lot of stories. There's been a claim that he had another child after he had passed on however the family knew nothing of this as during the time of his passing he had introduced a girl he had spoken about settling down with and at the time of his passing she was not at all pregnant. The biggest issue has been trying to speak directly to the person who is handling this case which has caused his youngest son's education to suffer as he cannot be taken back to school since he still owes last year's fees.

If we can communicate with anyone who will be willing look into this matter and has all the beneficiaries present with all the documents needed as this could be the case of them being fed incorrect information. Since there was no sole beneficiary put to handle the issue for both sons. This matter has caused anxiety for the deceased mother and having it sorted ASAP will be highly appreciated for both his sons.
