We acknowledge receipt of your HelloPeter complaint of this evening.
We are sorry to learn that your father's policy did not automatically become Fully Paid-up up when he turned 65.
In the past clients whose policies become paid-up at age 65, had to apply/submit a retirement claim for the policy to be made paid up.
Benefits on the Paid up policy (PUP)would depend on the number of years the member contributed to their cover levels:

In the past clients whose policies become paid-up at age 65, had to apply/submit a retirement claim for the policy to be made paid up.
Benefits on the Paid up policy (PUP)would depend on the number of years the member contributed to their cover levels:
- contributions of at least 5 years is needed for a participant to qualify for 50 % of their cover level on the PUP
- for each completed year thereafter, the percentage increases by 10 % until a full 10 years or more's contributions have been received - then cover for the participant would be 100 % of their cover.
- The same sliding scale applies to increases in cover.
Nowadays, if a member reaches membership cessation age/retirement age on the policy, and has contributed a full 10 years to their latest cover, the policy is automatically made paid-up when they reach retirement age.
However if the client has not contributed 10 full years to their latest cover, we allow them to continue until they've contributed to the latest cover level for the full 10 years.
However, if the client prefers making the policy PUP at reaching retirement age, they are entitled to do so. We would then calculated the PUP benefits in accordance to the sliding scale described above.
Unfortunately your post did not contain sufficient information to trace your father's policy number.
One of our Client Care Assessors will be in contact to obtain the information necessary to investigate and respond to you.
