Funeral claim
Good day. Think again if you want to take a funeral policy with Metropolitan. My name is Golelamang Morwe and I am a 70 year old pensioner. I lost my son in 2014 and before he passed on, he told me that he took out a funeral policy with Metropolitan for his father (my husband) and his cousin. He told me that in case he dies, this policy would be paid up and I would be the one that would be able to claim in case of death of either his father or his cousin. On 15 December 2025 his cousin (Themba Winston Tshisa) passed away, and I went to Metropolitan Vryburg on the 18th of December where I met with an employee there by the name of Takalani, with my late son’s ID, as well as the ID and death certificate of the recently deceased Themba Winston Tshisa. Takalani advised me that he can see that my son’s policy is now transferred to me, and I’m the new policy holder since my son passed away in 2014. The old policy number was *** and the new one is ***. After I submitted all the necessary documents to Takalani, he further advised me to submit a proof/invoice of what the money will be needed for in terms of covering the funeral costs. I went back to Vryburg the following day to submit quotation of a cattle that would be needed to be slaughtered at the funeral. Takalani was not happy with that quotation and asked me to request another one at my service provider. I did that and submitted it. Please note that Vryburg is 60km from my place of residence, and everytime I used my petrol to drive back and forth. After all the driving and calling Vryburg Metropolitan, even calling Takalani on his personal number multiple times, he assured me that the claim is approved on the 23rd of December and the money would reflect into my account after 48 hours. Today is the 29th December 2025. The deceased has long been buried and I had to loan money for the cattle. Can Metropolitan account and tell me why they are refusing to accept my claim!
