et

I cancelled a 2 policies with Metropolitan, both were marked paid up (happiness), I received payment for the 1 policy and the order I understand there are conditions to it hence i cannot receive the payment for now. My request is clear that no money should be deducted from my account as i have officially cancelled these policies. To my surprise I am debited on the 27th November 2024, when i query I am being told to wait for 45 days to receive my refund.

Firstly this was an untheorized debit order, money was taken from my account without my permission and every time i call to follow up, I am being told a follow up is being sent to the Head Office but no feedback is received thereafter.

Can Metropolitan please do the right thing, if you take money that it not your in error, then return it as quick as you took it.

Dear Zandile

We acknowledge receipt of your complaint on HelloPeter.

We are sorry to read that you are struggling with deductions after cancelling/making your policies Paid-up.

Please be advised that we send a tape for deductions to each bank once a week.  We have closing dates by when changes to these tapes must be made and if any changes are done after the cut-off date for these changes, it may result in a further debit taking place.

Also note that we have an agreement with all of the banks (referred to as the Bankserv rule), whereby the bank may advise Metropolitan of an unpaid debit up to 6 weeks (45 days) after the deduction has been billed to the client's account.

One of our Escalation Specialists will investigate and revert back to you to advise how this applies to your policies.

Regards

Client Care Team
