Disappointed
Never paid for funerals of my two parents ,even though their policies were paid up .When i visited their offices in Lebowakgomo and Polokwane, their consultants couldn't help me,because according yo them those policy numbers do not exists in their computers and books. How come we were able to keep copies of receipts and booklets but big company like Metropolitan couldn',t archive information that was so important to show love and appreciation to parents at the the end of life.It was for them, where are those contributions.....then,if you could support during the funeral. I wouldn't advise anybody to invest in Metropolitan at all.

We acknowledge receipt of your complaint,
We regret to learn of the difficulties you have encountered to claim for your parent/s.
From what you have described in your post, it seems like the policy you are referring to might be an old Home Service Funeral plan.
These policies were issued before Metropolitan went onto electronic administration platform in 1989/1990. Before this, policies were issued by hand and member details added on a paper register and often the agent would just put the client's age next birthday on the contract and the register, not the correct date of birth.
This is why it is imperative for us to obtain the policy contract or a receipt/proof of payment or at least a copy of correspondence from us to the policy owner, providing us with the policy number, in order to assess a claim.
This being said, a Client Care Assessor will be contacting your directly to obtain more information from you, so we can try our best to be of assistance.
Regards
Client Care Team
