Bad Service

Worst service provider ever. So my wife received a call a week ago from one of the consultants telling her that the policy which she has for more than 15 years is lapsed and that there is a credit amount due on this policy. According to my wife and I this policy should have still been active hence we kept on paying this policy for the past 2 and a halve years. Not once during this past 2 and a halve years have we been notified that we are paying a policy that is no longer active. Metropolitan happily accepted our payments every month for the past 2 and a halve years not saying anything. Strangely enough we make our monthly payment on the 30th of May 2022 and the following day we receive a call from Metropolitan advising us that the policy had lapsed in 2019 and that they would have to credit us the money which we paid for the past 2 and a halve years. Now that we asked to be credited we now have to go back to 2019 to request bank statements for the past 2 and a halve years just so that Metropolitan can give our money back. We have provided them with the reference number which we have always been using. They happily accepted the money for the past 2 and a halve years knowing full and well that this policy is not active. How do you leave a client to pay a policy for two and a halve years without any notification. Where has this money been allocated to. I have made my last payment in May 2022 and so conveniently a consultant phones my wife a day after, telling her that the policy lapsed in 2019 and that there is a credit due. We intended on taking out a new policy with Metropolitan but have decided against this due to the kind of treatment we now have received from a company whos service we valued. We do have family members that also has policies with Metropolitan and we have discussed our disappointment and experience with them and advised them to be very careful and to check up on the status of their policies.
